It's finally here... our Valentine party week! The kiddos are looking forward to all the excitement!
This week we will use part of work time to create our Valentine card bags. These will be the bags that the kiddos get to place Valentine cards in and take home! We will also work on decorating a heart by putting the letters of names in the correct order! I think that these will turn out great... I cant wait to hang them in the classroom. Do you remember those silly conversation hearts? We will use those to work with copying and extending patterns (we will not be eating them). On Wednesday we will complete a heart craft using coffee filters. This will be a fun week! I can't wait to see all that has been planned for our kiddos!
Important Information:
-- Please DO NOT send in any candy or treats for Valentine's Day. Due to licensing, we are not allowed to have any outside food brought in. Instead, have your child practice writing their names on cards to bring into school for their friends. There is no need to address the cards individually. We will have the kiddos place one card in each of the Valentine bags that everyone will have made.
-- Our parties will be held on Thursday and Friday this week. The parties are going to begin at 10:30am and 2:30 pm!
-- Numbers for Valentine's cards are as follows:
T/Th: AM-17 students PM-15 students
MWF: AM-16 students PM-15 students
-- School will not be in session on Monday February 16th in honor of Presidents' Day.
-- Our class will be participating in the annual Ice Skating event at the BECC. This will take place on Feb. 18 & 19. Every child has the opportunity to participate one of these days. Please remember to send in an extra change of clothes just in case! This is a fun activity and the kiddos LOVE it!
Make a Connection:
We are going to continue to collect data on spatial concepts. This is something that can be extended and reinforced at home as well. Throughout normal daily routines and conversation discuss with your children prepositions. For example: "Your backpack is BEHIND the door" "My chicken is BETWEEN the mashed potatoes and green beans"
Words to work on... big, little, behind, in front, under, above, on top
