Good evening!
I wanted to get a head start on our plans for next week!
We will be working on letters of the alphabet! We will not focus on all of the letters, but instead, focus on the letters that get us most confused... P, B, M, and W. Some of the activities that we will be doing this week include: making a Pizza and decorating the letter "B" with beads, buttons, blue, beans, and pictures from magazines that start with "B"!
We will also be working on engaging a zipper this week during a large group lesson! We will talk about putting "the mouse" into his "house" (engaging the zipper), making sure that he is all snug and tight and then closing it up for the night (zipping the zipper up)! I encourage you to practice this at home over the weekend! The kiddos love little sayings like this and it makes learning about a tedious task much more fun!
We will begin the week with the tail end of our second round of pattern data collection. I am so impressed with how well the kiddos have done with this! Everyone has improved their patterning skills (patterns are my FAVORITE)! We will end the week with letter identification and letter sounds. Don't forget to keep these as a topic at home! I find it easiest to discuss letters of students' names before moving onto the whole alphabet. If you are looking for a great letter recognition computer game, check out Starfall's letter games. If your child is ready to start with sight words and reading Starfall also has a "Learn to Read" section that is very helpful!
In case you didn't hear.... our class WON THE BOX TOP CONTEST! We collected 799 Box Tops!
Each student received a goodie bag in their backpack containing a gold ribbon, bubbles, and other goodies! Thanks SOOO much to the families that contributed to this. Enjoy!
