Halloween

Welcome back from Fall Break!  I hope you all enjoyed your two weeks, I sure did!

This week we will be talking all about Halloween. We will be matching the letters to the Ghost and counting candy corn. We will also be sorting the colored spider rings to find which color has the most and the least. On Wednesday and Thursday we will be using measuring utensils to make "Halloween Slime". Your child will be using this slime to create a character using different art supplies and googly eyes. :) This week we also added in different activities for your children to play with during work time. Your child may be sorting "monster eyes" by color, counting ducks and putting them on the correct numbered pumpkin, or using Halloween cookie cutters with the play-doh!
We have been reading the book Happy Halloween Little Critter  by Mercer Mayer. In this book we discuss why we don't need to be scared of people dressed in costume... that there is a real person underneath. The kids have done great with this and are so excited to dress up!

Making a Connection at Home
We have been doing a lot of discussion on MORE and LESS. We are also talking about sharing and taking turns. It is important to stress that sharing does not mean "giving away". I tell the kiddos that sharing means to use for a little bit and then give to the next person.

Reminders:
---- Wednesday 10/29 @ 2:30 Lockdown Drill - we have been discussing this during class and preparing your children for it. We will be locking and closing the classroom door, turning off lights and going into the bathroom where Mrs. Fenzel and I will provide books or a quiet game to play. It should not last very long. If you have questions, please feel free to e-mail!
---- Friday 10/31 - Dress up for Halloween day! Please no masks or pretend weapons! Be sure children are wearing appropriate shoes. :)

So far, we have had a great week back from break! Thanks for all you do to help our class run so smoothly!
