The Mitten

This week we will be reading the story The Mitten by Jan Brett. We will have many activities that will involve Mittens including a "clothesline" activity. Students must match the letter on their mitten to the letter on the clothespin. Then they place the mitten on to clothesline using fine motor skills. We will also be using picture cards to retell the story in order of events! During large group time we will see how many friends can fit inside the "mitten".

We will be finishing our second round of counting skills data collection on Tuesday. So far, everyone has done an amazing job! I am so so so proud of all of the improvements the kiddos have made! Our next skill we will be focusing on will be following directions.

I am sure you have all heard about the adventures of Snowflake/Chippy! The kids have really been enjoying his visit!

Information:
- Piper is still looking for a temporary home over Winter Break! Any takers? :)
- Progress reports will be sent home when we return from winter break.
- If your child will be absent before break please let me know!

NEXT WEEK IS DECEMBER SPIRIT WEEK!
-Monday 12/15: Hat Day
-Tuesday 12/16: Candy Cane (red & white) Day
-Wednesday 12/17: Pajama Day
-Thursday 12/18: Holiday Character Day
-Friday 12/19: Holiday Sweater Day

Making A Connection:
How can you teach your child about attributes?
- Separate similar toys into different categories (i.e. Big Cars, Little Cars, Blue Cars, Red Cars, etc.)
- When you ask your child what an object is... don't settle for the basic answer. Ask them to describe that object. (i.e. a yellow striped ball, a big brown dog, etc.)
- Ask how objects are similar and different. This can even be done at the dinner table. How is your plate the same or different than mine?
- Work on sorting when picking up toys. Put all the items that go upstairs in one pile and the items that need to stay downstairs in another pile.
