November 23-25

Happy Thanksgiving! I'm thankful for such wonderful students and families and a job that I love.
We have a short week this week! And lots of fun activities planned!

We will be creating a class turkey by decorating feathers with pictures of what we are thankful for. You can help at home by discussing what it means to be thankful! :) We will also be counting turkey feathers onto numbered turkeys and working on our fine motor skills by putting beads on the turkey feathers (pipe cleaners).

This week we will be wrapping up our first week of data collection on Concepts of Print. This skill requires preschoolers to be able to attend to a book to completion as well as use correct book orientation (right side up, open from front, and turn pages front to back). Pre-K kiddos are required to identify the following: front of book, back of book, where to start reading, where to go next (left to right progression), identify the picture, locate one word, and one letter. These are very important early literacy skills that can easily be worked on at home while reading! :)

I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Mrs. Datzman
