Shapes

It's all about shapes this week!

Many of our activities will involve working with all of different shapes. We will do an activity by making a house with craft sticks and working together to make the parts of the house (doors, windows, chimney, etc.). We will also make our very own shape and color book! Towards the end of the week we will work to sort and identify shapes as well as follow directional instructions (beside, below, above) to glue the shapes in the right places.

In class we have also been working on our prewriting strokes! These are very important for your children to master before they begin to write. We use prewriting strokes to explain how to form numbers, letters, and shapes. If you would like to practice at home I would be happy to send you several print outs.

Some of the wording that we use in class is as follows:
a horizontal line is a "zoom"
a vertical line is a "zip"
a cross (+) is a combination of the two
diagonal lines are "going down the slide"
and an X is two slides
and a circle is "around and stop"

Thank you so much for all of your scholastic orders! The order was submitted on August 30 and should arrive soon. Book will be send home with the your kiddos as soon as we get them in!
