Good Evening!!
I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend!
This week we will be finishing up our second round of Letter Identification data collection! The kiddos have really surprised me with the progress that was made in just a WEEK! I am so excited to continue to track their progress!
On Wednesday we will begin to focus on Number I.D. and counting...
*** For PRESCHOOL, the goal is for students to be able to use 1:1 correspondence. What does that look like and how can you support this skill at home? For this skill we are looking for students to count each item only one time. This can be supported by counting the Hot Wheel cars as they pick them up, the forks as you set the table, the number of peas left on their plate, etc. Have fun with this one!
*** For PRE-K, the goal is to identify and match the numbers to a set of ten. For this skills we are looking for the kiddos to count the number of items presented (ex. rocks, dots, jewels, etc.) and find the correlating numeral. By simply practicing to count each item only once up to a set of 10 would help support this skill at home! So again, have fun with this skill... numbers and counting are EVERYWHERE!
I will also be introducing a new song to the kiddos this week... Action Alphabet! This is a simple ABC song that will help teach letter identification and sounds throughout the year. I am excited to introduce this this year and hope that it helps to develop our letter skills! The four letters we will learn this week will be:
A for Apple, A-A-A (students pretend to eat an apple)
B for Bounce, B-B-B (students pretend to bounce a basketball)
C for Cut, C-C-C (students pretend to cut with scissors)
D for Dig, D-D-D (students pretend to dig)
I hope you have a wonderful week!
